1. Follow the trends Trends in design are changing very fast and you definitely don’t want to become out dated. Read webdesign magazines, blogs, forums about new upcoming ideas, resources etc. this will help you to avoid creating of last year looking websites. 
2. Have a creative lifestyle Try to change your routine often and do something different and new everyday. Meet new people, listen to different music, eat different food, travel etc. This sort of change will not give you ideas by itself but it will open your mind and it will makes you more flexible.
